Facebook Lite App – Very Lite But Very Nice

Facebook has officially launched its Lite app for Android users in India and the Philippines. It’s designed to provide the social network’s core experience reliably on spotty and slow mobile connections.

Facebook says its Lite app is quicker than its main mobile app over 2G because its servers take on the burden of optimizing content.

Imagine, the app is only 430 KB, making it quicker to download. It includes push notifications, and messaging just like the Facebook app.

It’s my first time to use it and it is very convenient, my feed loads up right away. It really differs to the main Facebook app in terms of speed although it lacks some features like video streaming. I’m also happy that I can still manage my Facebook Pages without logging in to the separate app.

Currently, the app is only downloadable via Android. Facebook says it will roll out the app in other markets over the coming weeks and months.

Is Facebook Down Today? #FacebookDown

Today, it was raining all day here in Manila and in some other places in the Philippines because of typhoon Luis. Considering that my mobile network is Sun Cellular, the weather is a bad impression of getting a poor signal strength for my mobile internet (it’s used to be a joke to a SUN user). However, I noticed something wierd on my phone. I was having hard time accessing or loading my feeds and notifs on my Facebook app. But I can still browse and instagram sometimes. Though, I can still watch some episodes of Naruto online.

I tried to google it and look on Twitter. Though it’s not trending, I see some recent tweets with hashtag #facebookdown.

Is Facebook really down?

I don’t have the accurate answer yet. Been trying to read articles in some of the Tech-blogs like Mashable but is seems that there are no major problems reported yet.

After that day, I was able to access Facebook on my phone. I really do not know what happened. Was it because of the Solar waves?

I was about to lose my mobile phone’s batter life.

I want to upload more photos on instagram. I want to check my facebook more. I want to tweet more. I want to watch more videos on YouTube. Most of all.. I want to watch next episodes of One Piece. Haha
